Congratulations to 9th grader, Rose Copeland for being HomeTech's Student of the Month. Rose was nominated by Gail Kemp who said, "Rose is a wonderful young lady who works hard in all she does and never complains even when asked to work on something that she'd probably rather not. Congratulations to HomeTech's Elementary Student of the Month Jacob Stevens! Jacob is a soon to be second grader and has been nominated by his teacher Nora Reale who said, "Jacob is an outstanding student when it comes to getting his work done. Danielle DiPetro-Hawkins has nominated Serenade Skinner for HomeTech’s Student of the Month. Danielle said, “Serenade has been attending Culinary Arts completely virtual this year—cooking along with the class in her own kitchen. The autonomy and preparedness that has gone into Serenade's class participation is exemplary—she reads the recipe beforehand and purchases all necessary ingredients before class. Her dishes always come out looking just as good and sometimes even better than ours! She's timely submitting her weekly assignments online, and makes an effort to find and share delicious recipes. She's an excellent baker as well as chef, and I've appreciated working with her.” Congratulations Senior Serenade Skinner! Congratulations to 11th grader, Colby Heyrman who was nominated by one of his teachers, Martin Svec. Mr. Svec says, “Colby has made immense effort to put his academic success at the forefront. Despite numerous challenges, he has taken on a grueling course load - and he is absolutely soaring. Perhaps more important, though, is Colby's self-awareness, awareness of others, and a keen ability to reflect deeply on the world he lives in. He has a caring heart and an emboldened sense of speaking up for what is right, while respecting others and himself.” Way to go Colby! Congratulations! Congratulations Mattilynn Morris for being HomeTech’s Student of the Month! Fourth grader, Matty was nominated by her teacher Nora Reale. She is honest and trustworthy in dealings with others, also, she displays good citizenship by assisting other students. Congratulations to 5th grader Alyssa Smith for being selected by her teacher Nora Reale to be HomeTech’s Student of the Month! Miss Nora says, “Alyssa is a conscientious student. She makes sure all her work is complete and is prepared for our meetings. She will go the extra-mile to write and illustrate a narrative story, and I love hearing her read aloud to me! Congratulations to eleventh grader, Esther Burkhart for being HomeTech’s Student of the Month! Esther’s teacher Danya Reynolds has this to say about her, “Esther is an exemplary student. She is creative and thoughtful in all she does. She is a shining example of someone who dives deep into her learning and challenges herself. Every assignment that I have seen from Esther is precise, thoughtfully crafted and well organized. She excels not only in science, but in all of her other classes. There have been many assignments that she has completed that have been so incredible that her teachers have to share them with each other and it makes them feel inspired to teach. Congratulations Aidan Gates for being chosen to be HomeTech’s high school Student of the Month! Aidan was nominated by his English teacher, Tina Hamm. Tina says, “Aidan is the one in class that is always thinking, says nothing, until WHAM, he blows you away. He either asks a really deep thought-provoking question, or contributes an accurate and intuitive insight. The word "nuanced" comes to mind. She always comes to class on time, whether it's in person or online, and she is always prepared and ready to learn. She is kind and respectful to her peers and her teachers. In Algebra, she takes her time and really tries to understand the different methods and processes no matter how difficult they are. She works hard and turns her assignments in on time. Congratulations to Kevin Bird, HomeTech’s Student of the Month! Kevin was nominated for Student of the Month by Dan Evans. Kevin is a senior who has attended HomeTech the last three years. Digital Arts teacher, Martin Svec nominated Aurora Warren as student of the month. Martin says, “Throughout the year, in Digital Arts, Aurora has brought her own wit, creativity, and genuine reflectiveness to her projects. It has been a real delight to watch her experiment and play with a wide variety of emotional range. One example was her music unit. Aurora created deep, emotionally moving instrumental pieces that could easily be the soundtracks to inspirational documentary films.” Congratulations Aurora and thank you for all you add to our school community!
